Best way to reduce latency when broadcasting?

    Hi!

I'm using windows Media Encoder 9 to broadcast a videostream over the net. The latency is an average of 10 seconds at WME defaults. All of the sites I have visited talk about fine-tuning the settings to improve video quality, but nothing to reduce the latency.

Does anyone know a resource which would help reduce the latency? Even a few seconds would be sufficient, and even at the cost of video quality.

Is windows Media Encoder 9 the best solution for this type of encoding? WME automatically pushes in WMV format.. Would MPEG be better for what I am choosing to do? And if MPEG is better, can anyone recommend a good encoder that also will allow the video stream to be broadcast? If it is multicast, even better!

    Thanks in advance
