    Help with encode - recode

Hey I am new to this forum but I have been making and copying dvd's for a while now...I have several programs but I could never figure one thing out.. How to go from dvd to mpeg or something similar.... or better from a vob file to something...can anyone help me? You see I record things on my camcorder and I wanted it on dvd so I bought a vcr/ dvd recorder. So now I have it on DVD.. but I want to edit it. I have dvd decrypter to rip the dvd but its in VOB file and I can't edit it. I have several programs such as DVD Decrypter, Sony Vega, Windows Movie Maker, Sony DVD Architect, Nero 6, WinAVI video converter, DVD Shrink, and I think thats about it... So any help can I do this with a program I have or what do you recomend? thanks

depends on what kind of editing you want to do. if you only want to cut out parts you can do this with dvdshrink in the re-author mode with out re-encoding. any re-encoding you do will lower the quality some what plus takes alot of time. if you want to do alot of editing it would be better to save the video from your camcorder straight to your hard drive, edit the video, author the video then burn to a dvd.

Sounds like something you can readily accomplish with "TMPGEnc DVD Author".

in tmpgenc dvd author click "create new project"> click "add dvd video"> browse to your VIDEO_TS folder>when the window pops up click "next">check "copy the clip video data to the hdd"> choose your output folder> click ok
