is it possible to join 3 small DVD files/folders into 1 ?

i have converted 3 of my VCDs coz i needed to convert to DVD. Now, i have 3 very small DVD files/folders (VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS) & I was wonedring if its possible to join these 3 so that these 3 can be copied onto 1 DVD.

    each VIDEO_TS folder has files such as VIDEO_TS, VIDEO_TS, VIDEO_TS.BUP, VTS_01_0, VTS_01_1 ETC)

how about if i rename the largest file in all the 3 and make on DVD folder ? would that work ? in other words if the largest file in a DVD folder is VTS_01_1, can another file from another folder be renamed to VTS_01_2 and added ?

    pls advise.
    thank you

If I was you, I would have encoded the VCD's into mpg format then used DVDlab pro to make a single DVD out of it.

MPEG encoder : TMPEGEnc (free for mpeg1, 30 days for mpeg2, DVDlab can use either)
    DVDLab : www.mediachance.com (free for 30days)

Guide : search in www.VCDhelp.com\guides for beginners guide to DVDlab by "reboot"

Btw, dvd structure does not work the way you are assuming it will or want it to work.

thank you. You mean, since the 3 VCDs would have a .DAT files, encode them by ISOBUSTER to .MPG files and add all 3 .MPG files TMPGenc to and get 1 output...am i right ? or once they are .MPG files i can use windows movie maker to stotch them up but then the output is a .WMA/.WMV file and TMPGend DVD authoring dont regcognise that format ?

      thank you again

programNope you got me wrong, here's the process :

        a) Convert VCD to MPEG (I think you know how, using isobuster)

        b) Put those multiple Mpeg to DVDlab pro software

        c) Since DVD lab does not join mpeg's you can link it, so that the second part plays automatically after the first.

        d) Create DVD menus using dvdlab

        e) encode using dvdlab................and burn

Links to guide and software are in my previous post

You can do what you want in PgcEdit.

Load DVD1 in. Then import 2 other VTSTs. You will need either a basic menu or some nav commands to navigate between the 3 titles.

There are plenty of apps which can import basic menus - Titlewriter, Chetwoods page or make one yourself with something like DVD Styler.

Good luck aly. PgcEdit is a bit difficult for the unitiated. There is a help file - download and pop it in a "doc" sub-folder. Search for "import" to find the various functions associated with importing titlesets.

              Best of luck mate.

                Hi!

If you followed the suggestion by columbo999 in your other thread and have downloaded the free trial version of TMPGEnc DVD Author, you can use that program to simply make ONE DVD of the three sets of DVD files you presently have - and add menus and chapters.

hi ashes..i did as colombo said...

since 8 hours now i have been trying to joing the 3 DVD (i mean MPG files) by TMPGenc but i do the 1st one, it does it fine but twith the 2nd one an error window pops up saying " the GOP size is too large, i even ignore the message and it say about some resolution....so this way i am only able to fdo i dvd and not the other 2 DVD, THOUGH i managed to do all 3 seperately and managed to convert all 3 seperately into DVD files but all together wouldnt work...

i am sorry about all this but if this was a everytime task i would have read the help file but i am more than positive that this is the 1st and last time i would want to convert a VCD into DVD...

                  ...like BLUTCH said.....

i might have to use pgcedit ot i will joing all the MPG files by WIN Movie Maker and then come out with 1 MWV or MPG output and then use TMPGEnc

                  cheers...

                    hi ASHES / COLOMBO

having the 3 MPG (from 3 different VCDs) i also tried dvd lap pro but its a hifi program and dont know much on how to use it. In there i did file browser, a window poped up, located the MPG files on the left hand menu and double clicked on the MPG files and something happened...(i think demuxing) and it started processing as the percentage kept rising up but it would freeze at some MPG files......

                    thks

I referred to TMPGEnc DVD Author, which is a different program than TMPGEnc. If you already have three DVD packages of VOBs, IFOs, and BUPs it should take only 10 or 15 minutes for TMPGEnc DVD Author to create one combined DVD package from them.

yes your are right, sorry i meant i am using TMPGenc dvd authroing...and yes i could make 1 DVD with the 3 BUPs, VOBs (which i also tried) but like i mentioned it comes with this error for the 3rd DVd files , " GOP file is too large " i can ignore it and i do ignore it but it says again " the resolution is 32x...blah blah " and it wont allow me to ignore this.

                        thks

the GOP error indicates that one of the Mpegs are not in standard form or there is a problem with the file...i have seen it myself. re-encoding with standard tmpgenc should fix it.

Use the "add new track" function to add the third set.

first you should have copied the vcd's on your HD and end up with 3 .dat files.

with the 3 .dat files, you convert them with standard tmpgenc, to mpeg-2 (dvd template wizard). THEN you use ADD file , NOT "add new track" in tmpgenc dvd author, this will join the 3. i've done this a 1000 times and is easy peasy, yep and easy
