    DivX Conversion

    Hi,

I have a few dvdrips in DivX I would like to convert o Mpeg to play in my DVD player.
I did the first one by following yor guides and it worked great.

I have a new one and tried to do it and I can only get sound and no picture.

I updated the codec's to 5.0 and tried another method, still nothing, I have used TMPEG, Flask, Virtual dub, and even Nero 5 and let that decode it and the best I can do is get audio and a black picture.

Has anyone come across this before and knows how to get round it ?

    Thanks for the help

"I have a new one and tried to do it and I can only get sound and no picture."

    1) Are you able to play the original of this new file and get both video and audio?

    2) Load the original file into VirtualDub. From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information". Post EVERYTHING listed.

Yes it plays ok for me, sound and picture thats why I can't figure out what it is.
if it was a codec it wouldn't play at all.

Here is the info you requested:

(easier to take a screen shot than to type it

        1) TMPGEnc is not able (yet) to handle DivX 5.0

        2) The "indeterminate" listings for the audio stream would seem to indicate that this would cause a problem for VirtualDub.

You could try, from under VirtualDub:

Saving the audio stream as a WAV file

Then changing the "Audio" setting to "No audio" and saving the video as a DivX v.3.11 or 4.xxx silent video (by selecting "Compression" from under the "Video" dropdown menu).

TMPGEnc should then be happy to accept both files for input.
        Let us know of your success ;>}

divx5 is listed as decompressor, still i'm not convinced that divx5 was used for encoding the video stream.

maybe you should simply re-install divx3 again and give it a try.

            To setarip

            Setarip...

I have heard that divx 5 is compatible with TMPGENC, just install the 3.11alpha codec and v5 codec and then increase the directshow filter.

I am not sure if it works, just telling you what I heard!

            Best regards

The encode has finished and there is now sound and video but the sound isn't sync-ed with the video..it is 1 second or so ahead of the video, when in Mpeg format.

was that a setting I missed in Tmpeg ?

anyway to get it to match back up?

In TMPGENC, try to lower the frame rate, if poss and also the freq sample rate to 44100hz if it is not already.
