i highly recommend you convert to avi. in your case, using 'auto gordian knot'. check out the 'dvd-->xvid with auto gordian knot' guide at http://www.doom9.org

using a software is ok
I have used imtoo dvd RIPPER or some other software( im sorry i forgot the correct name). It can do this job excellent.you could have a try. Hope my suggestion could help youComment

yes avi is the way to go, you can also have a look at the magic dvd ripper/copier section in these forums
