question about AoA DVD Ripper

i've seen that it supports x264 codec but when i convert dvd to x264 i get the extension .avi, shouldn't it be .mp4?

When you encode a file to divx or xvid with divx or Xvid codecs, your file will come with .avi extension. You can check your .avi file's for format information by using tools like VirtualDub, Media Info, or GSpot
