1080p Quicktime h264 to XviD

Hey all, I'm having problems trying to convert a 1080p Quicktime H.264 video to XviD. Normally I would use TMPGEnc to do the trick, but it crashes every time I try to load the file. Any ideas? Thanks!

try this: download & install (october 13 2005 version) 'ffdshow' from http://www.aziendeassociate.it/cd.asp?dir=/ffdshow

go to start-->program files--->ffdshow-->vfw codec configuration. click the 'decoder' tab, click 'codecs' in the column on the left. find the word 'x264'. next to it, it should say 'disabled' change that to 'livabcodec'.

try encoding again

Thanks for the reply, but it still does the same thing. I'll try and load it into TMPGEnc (Plus) for encoding, but it locks up. I redownloaded the file via Quicktime 7 Player and it said that the audio is AAC 5.1 surround, would that have anything to do with it? Thanks!

its likely, i'm not sure whether tmpgenc supports 5.1 ac3 without purchasing their plugin (but i've never had the need to encode 5.1 source with tmpgenc, so i couldn't say for sure).

if that's the case, you could import into tmpgenc if you demuxed the audio & video, encoded the video then muxed them together again.

as far as i know the plugin is for dvd author. tmpgenc plus will take some 5.1 input, i have seen it work fine with directshow raised, but crash on default and vice versa---so try it both ways. if that don't work, i'd just demux and mux it later, using say a wav file for tmpgenc plus to encode so it will not crash, kind of what anonymez already advised
