    AVI+MP3 Help

    Hello folks
    Happy coming Holydays to all

I have a problem which I can not comprehend

Here goes: I capture live TV using Aver 507 and it's proprietary program. Captured file (AVI) shows as Divx 5.2.1 in GSpot. Audio is captured as MP3.
When I play this file in Win. Media Player - sound is behind video. And the longer I play - the more "unsync" audio/video will become. In other words: I start playing - everything is synced, after 3-5 minutes of playing - there are 2 seconds between video and audio, after 10 min of playing - there are 5 seconds between video and audio etc....

    Now - the weird thing:
If I fastforward and start playing next chapter - video/audio of this chapter are in sync, but if I watch same chapter in regular viewing pattern - after watching all previous chapters - sound will be far behind video.
If I record this file on DVD - my Philips player shows same pattern: the longer file plays - the more "unsync" video/audio will become, and if I fastforward - all will be fine for a few seconds but then audio starts lagging behind video.

    Any thoughts pls.

this is the most popular way to fix that.

    download Virtualdub (free)
VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility for Windows platforms. It is streamlined for fast linear operations over video.

change the audio to a .WAV file using Virtualdub. Load the file. Go to "video">Direct stream copy. Under "audio">full processing mode, Click "audio" again. click Conversion check 48,000Hz and check "high quality" and ok. Go to "audio" >compression, select "no compression" (PCM) and ok. Finally go to FILE> save WAV. this will produce a .wav file (audio only).

when its done, load the original avi file again under file. go under audio, select full processing mode, go to audio again, select wav audio. load the wav file you made earler.

under video select direct stream copy, again under video select framerate and change so audio and video durations match.

go to file and save with a new name

      Thx a lot Columbo
      But.........
I just came home from work and tried it - no luck
      Same thing.
GSpot now shows PSM instead of MP3 but still sound is behind video, and A LOT

Any thoughts on "roots" of this problem? Because I capture/convert to Divx on the fly and I have no time to capture in MPEG2 and then convert it to AVI.
