follow the guide properly, make sure you installed avisynth & the path (and file extention) to the rm file in the script is correct

Please use Media PLayer Classic. If the AviSynth script is create correctly, Media Player Classic will be able to play the file (audio+video) for you to see. Please post the content of your .avs script so we'll have in hope any idea what you're up to

                Regards

you'll know its correct when you open in vdub-- you won't get an error. as Ben said, mpc is also a good way to 'preview' the content, good for finetuning filters

If VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod said "Script error", please show us about how you created avs script, what you typed in the script, where you saved the file in your HD,...

                        avisynth 2.5x - get it at http://www.avisynth.org

                        virtualdub(mod) - http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net/

                        real alternative - http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm

                        Steps:

                        1. install all of the above.
I installed everything but I think I did not uninstall my realplayer and it said to do that. I didn't. I also didn't install the player I checked it off.

                        2. open up wordpad.
                        I did this

                        3. type in the following
                        Quote:
                        directshowsource("C:\my file.rm")
This is what I typed: C:\Brother Bear - No Way Out (Video)ss.rm

except replace "C:\my file.rm" with wherever your file is on the hard disk. click 'file', and save it as an avs (eg script.avs) file somewhere on your hard disk.
                        I saved it as: brotherbear.avs

                        4. run virtualdubmod, open the avs file. it should go through, and you can now use vdub/mod to encode as usual

I run it and I got this error message:

                        Avisnyth Open Failure
                        Script error: syntax error
                        (C:\brotherbear.avs, line 1, column 1)

                        What is wrong?

                          Try the script like this:

                          DirectshowSource("C:\Brother Bear - No Way Out (Video)ss.rm")

Just make sure: Brother Bear - No Way Out (Video)ss is the name of your file which is physically placed in the C: drive. If the name of the file is different, please replace it with a correct one

Also, please patient. AviSynth script seems to be too difficult at the beginning, you get the touch and will master it at no time

                          Regards

do it again, except this time, when going file-->save as, change "save as type" to "text document". should work then

notepad saves as txt by default, wordpad saves rtf, changed the guide accordingly
