    Best Video to iPod Freeware?

    Hi folks,

I read and read multiple posts and my head is spinning ... so, I decided to post this Question to all the Pro's, Newbie's and Hobbiest ...

From the following FREE programs using the following Criterias which one is the "Easiest" & "Best" for an Average/Newbie User ...

    Criterias (in order of importance):
    1) Absolutely FREE (& Not Trial Version)
    2) No Spyware or Adware
    3) Easy to Install & Unistall. Meaning it will not "Lodge" itself permanently on your computer; and NO HIDDEN dll's and so forth.
    4) Stable
    5) Easy to Use
    6) Versatile. it can handle various INPUT & OUTPUT formats.
    7) Good User's Guide.
    8) Most likely will have Future Upgardes & Improvements.

FREE Programs in Question (not in any special order):
    1) StaxRip
    2) Jodix's Free iPod Converter
    3) MediaCoder
    4) Videora
    5) VEMoDe
    6) iriverter
    7) Super

    Thanks,
    G!

"best" is a matter of opinion, and mine is that none of the software mentioned is better than MeGUI (or plain x264 cli). whether it meets criteria #5 though varies from person to person. it's major purpose is not to encode for the ipod but is capable of it with custom profiles.

      Hi Anonymez,

Thanks for your feedback ... looks like StaxRip or MeGUI so far.

I hope others will chime in and give their 2 cents.

hey, i've used iriverter to convert movies from their file types to avi and it works perfectly.... i've also used magic dvd ripper and that works well too. if you dvd's have scratches magic dvd ripper will not only convert it but do it without skipping.... most other programs usually just stop

SUPER has the advantage of having an iPod specific output preset. This makes it one of the easiest tools to use.Ofcourse MeGUI gives the advanced user more control. But not everyone(including me) is Anonymez.
