    divX critic needed

    Hi all,

Ok, after a crapload of probs and much research I have finally put together a DivX! WOOHOO!!!!! *grins*

BUT.................I wonder how it goes quality wise. Therfore I invite anyone with plenty of experience and knowledge to check out my movie (Joe Dirt) and critic it, give me ideas how to do better. It is approx 689 Meg so it fits on a single cd.

So guys, I await. We can set up a time/place for transfer/upload.

    Cheers

    Hello Homer,

I can't say im an expert at encoding the DivX movies but I am however good at criticing ppl's divx and video.

Although i have nothing to back this information up with, im still hoping you'll send me at least 10-15MB to see what the sound/video quality is like and ill be able to give you any suggestions and/or comments.

        Hey m8,

Do you have ICQ? or MSN? you could send it to me through there.

BTW the way to send me only 5 mins of the movie is to start sending me the whole movie and ill just cancel the dl after about 20 mins leaving me with only 5-10 mins of the movie

        And then ill critique it

the 'regular way' would be to cut off 5 min with virtualdub.
load avi file, set startmarker (golden key <=) to the desired point. next use slider to move some min into your file and hit the oppsoite golden key => again to select end marker.
          now save as... .

              RE:

Yeh you COULD do all of that work in VirtualDub.... OR you could just start the download, cancel it after 5-10MB has been downloaded, use DivX-Fix and then watch your 5-10MB portion of the movie

My way is easier for everyone, IMO

BTW Homer, Im almost done downloading ur movie and ill try and get a critique up by tonite, im going to see Behind Enemy Lines if about 20 mins so ill write my review of ur movie when im back

              Later m8

Hey Homer, looks like I got the movie sooner then i thought i would...

                Heres my critique...

                Sound: 9
                Size : 10
                Video : 9.5

Basically the picture is Great! or at least it is on my comp. I saw very little pixleization in dark/black scenes.

The sound is clear and loud on my Comp. but I am playing my Comp Sound thru my stereo speakers, so I may have an advantage over others

Basically, if this is your first rip, then you got LUCKY! or.... You did your homework and read up lots on this and did a good quality rip!

If you ever wanna contact me again and explain what settings and such and how you made this DivX Rip, id be most appreciative!

                OVERALL....... 9.5/10

Glad u liked it..Did u get the whole movie and did Joe_Dirt tickle your funny bone? *grins*

It's so glad to here the rip is good after spending days researching best methods and sifting through heaps of quides. As you see no luck involved, just plenty of research

Therefore I shall use the same method in future......

I can post how I ripped it if u like

Yeh if you have the time, id love to see what steps you took in making that rip

Im getting better but still its hard for me to experiment because my proccessor on this paticlular machine is only a 670mhz P3

It takes about 14-16 hours a pass for a 2h movie
