Audio sync problem in XVid Conversion

Hi guys,

I have an XVid video with ac3 5.1 audio which I obviously want to keep but I have tried to convert this to a DVD twice and get sync errors. Here is what I did:

• Used VirtualDubMod to join two avi's to one and then extract the ac3 audio from the joined file.
• Used Besweet to fix any errors in the audio (it did find 2).
• Used CCE to convert the video to mpeg.
• Used DVD Lab Pro to create the DVD.

I also used AVI2DVD to see if this would be better but it still had errors.

Any advice would be appreciated.

In Step 1 try AVIMuxGUI instead of VirtualdubMod and see if it helps.

Or use ConvertXToDVD [freeware without menu option os DivXToDVD] and put the two files togethere, CX2D will take care of both giving you a very high quality output.

Unfortunately I don't have the original separate files. I did load the video in AVIMuxGUI and it had a delay of 499ms for the audio. DVD Lab has an audio delay tool so should I enter 499ms into this?

Are you getting the sync errors in the avi OR in the converted DVD? If the avi has sync errors ,you can fix it in VirtualdubMod itself.

The AVI plays fine its just the DVD that is out of sync. I have used AviMuxGui to recreate an AVI file and I will encode it all again tonight and see what happens.

Sorry its taken me a while to reply. Entered the delay that AviMuxGui reported and all worked fine. I have since tested AviMuxGui with joining other files and seems to work really well so I think I will stick with that over VirtualDubMod.
