    Encoding Time with Interlaced source

A few questions about encoding time. How long does it usually take to encode a Interlaced 2 hour video? ATM its taking me 6-7 hours which seems to me to be too long or is this normal?

Is there any difference with the type of source you select in MeGUI in terms of speed? Selecting Interlaced compared to Partially Interlaced?

Selecting the Deinterlace Filter to TDeint I usually get 20fps in first pass and 8fps on the 2nd pass. Using FieldDeinterlace, it appears to me that you loose too much detail especially when there is a lot of movement. And using TDeint (with EDI) just takes forever.

Im using TDeint as the deinterlacer but in the description it also says that is an sharp deinterlacer. So should I still use Lanczos as a filter or just leave it on Bilinear or even Gauss?

I know that for a progressive show that is 41min long, it usually takes about 2 hours in total. But i dont know about Interlaced items.

Hope that some of you guys can shine some light on this.

Encoding interlaced content should take no longer than encoding progressive content with the same specs. Deinterlacing, however, depending on which plugin/function you use, will slow things down.

Tdeint is what I usually use due to high quality output and decent speed. For something faster, try LeakKernelDeint

Partially Interlaced is for hybrid content. Probably adds full=false to the script, which basically tells TDeint to check each frame for combing before processing. Unless you know you're dealing with hybrid content, leave it on Interlaced.

o should I still use Lanczos as a filter or just leave it on Bilinear or even Gauss?
    Use Lanczos

I don't understand what TDeint's description has to do with which resizer you should use. You don't need to resize at all if you don't want to.

Crap.... I finished encoding the file, put the thing on the disk and popped it in the dvd player... only to find out that it stops around the 70min mark

It happens to both files that i just made

The only thing i can think of is that the file size of the file is too big 1.6Gb for a 2hour vid or that I burned at a too high a speed @ 16xDVD.

              or that I burned at a too high a speed @ 16xDVD.
That would be my guess. Assuming the file plays properly on your PC?

Yep works fine on the pc. The first file on the dvd is a 400mb file then 1.6Gb - another 400mb then the last 1.6Gb vid.

I'll chuck the files and burn it @ x4 on a dvd-rw. If it still doesnt work i would then have to chop the divx in half so that the second have of the vid would work. I guess that my pioneer dvd play can only handle a 1Gb file.
