Quality of DivX video vs .avi
along those lines I was wondering if save a cam corder video as a Divx file extension using Divx software, is the quality better than if you use DivX softrware and save it as an .avi?
Hope this makes sense as I want to post my files on my website for viewing and would like really good quality but shrunken files...
thanksLast edited by donaldgkimball; 29 Mar 2007, 08:17 AM.Comment

Actually I dont need all the menu stuff I simply need to use the best format available to have a fairly long video file with sharp images saved in .avi format. I was under the impression that DivX was a master at this and if I can save my DivX created media as an .avi it would be the icing on the cake!
I am trying to avoid the blurry not so great video quality I see on You Tube and other places.
Cheers and thanks!

YouTube use low res, low bitrate Sorenson Spark (H.263) video.
In terms of sharpness, Xvid should have an edge over DivX since it can use CQM's, which can help preserve sharpness (at the expense of size).Comment

In order to acheive the highest picture quality possible ... do I need to convert the XviD AVI files to MPEG4,etc.. ??

The size of the resulting ISO file does not matter to me.
Each XviD AVI file is 45 min. long - if each one requires an entire DVD-5 disc - that is okay.
Please let me know. Thank You.Comment
