    xvid..iso...and dvd subtitles

    Ok...I have an xvid avi file that plays naturally on my pc without any subtitles. When I converted it over to an iso file and subsequently onto DVD it randomly appeared with Dutch subs. I went through DVD Shrink to extract the subpicture but there werent any. Any clues on how I can get this video from avi without subtitles to iso/dvd without?

    much thanks!

    What did you use to convert from XviD to DVD?

      I used AVIDVD Burner...but only to convert the xvid to iso. I then used Active iso burner to create the DVD.

        the subtitles must be hard coded into the avi
        check the avi out

          If they are hardcoded to the avi why do they not appear when playing the xvid on my computer?

            well the avi would have to have an subtitle file named the same for your conversion program to add to the dvd

              I apologize for my amateur skills in all of this but I think I may have fixed the problem by locating and deleting a .srt file with the same name...I am currently running that through the conversion software to see if I get an iso without the subs.

                that would explain the subtitle problem

                  @Chewy,
                  I think swoopaloop is correct about his point regarding hardcoded subs.If the subs were hardcoded into the avi then they would have become a part of the video itself.Hence,on conversion to DVD the video would still have got the subs as part of video.They would have been ALWAYS ON.
                  There is an explanation to his problem.The .srt file is there in the same folder as the avi with the same names.So it should appear while playing the XviD;BUT,he probably does not have Vobsub or VSFilter installed.Thus he cannot see the subs while playing the avi.
