Movie clips no longer work on wmp?

Hi: About a year ago, All downloaded movie clips and played them on Windows Media Player. I downloaded wmp10 and then nothing worked. I was given an option to revert to wmp9, which I did and things were a lot better. And Now when I try to play a movies clip I get a "Window has encountered an error......" I can't get any movie to play thru, they start and then I get the error message? I have been told that this may be due to "Windows updates" changing things to combat virus problems? Can you give me any help on this?

Have you tried Media Player Classic or VLC Media Player, both free?

Movie clips no longer play to the end.

Hello Soup: I have the very same problem. Movie clips played prior but now the either stop before they can get goig or about 5 min into the clip. I understand that this could be due to the "updates" that microsoft has imposed on us - to prevent additional virus problems - don't know. Where can I download the "Classic". Any additioal help is greatfully appreciated. Media player 9 did well - can't say much for media 10 - don't know about media player 11. Thanks again maybe2
