Why is fps decreasing by conversion ?

Hi , about 5 mins ago I posted a question about which version of VSO is the quickest.
I`ve just oped the program and started to convert and noticed that the fps decreas steadily from 25 (I hour remaining) to 12.7 at present (3 hours remaining) so its no wonder my conversions are taking up to 5 hours and more.
What`s happening here ?
