How to Convert AVI to DVD with .sub file (and preserve multiple subs)

    Hi All,

I want to convert an .avi file + a .sub file (with multiple language subtitles) to a DVD.
Which program do I have to use?

(Unfortunately, i cannot rip the subs out of the .sub file, since 'subtitle workshop' says the .sub file is damaged. Nevertheless I can select different subtitles when I play the .avi + .sub in VLC media player).

    Thnx in advance.

    Gtz. M0s..

I did a little testing today on an off the wall/obscure avi, unfortunately dvd flick dropped the ball with included sub and

trialed the newest convertxdvd and the .idx file seems to be the key to
      support for multiple language subtitles

Good input,Chewy. I usually prefer CX2DVD over Flick since I find it to produce better quality. But then,CX is not free. I never tried the subs in Flick. Looks like he will face a problem unless he can get the .idx file.

flick keeps giving me a message about not supporting a certain kind of sub file

only tested 2 avis so far

may be my imagination but flick seems to do a little better job with sound, quality of video is fine, newest convertx is a lot faster on my singlecore amd64

I think the idx file is an index to the sub file?

              convertx supported my one test

Correct, the .idx contains timing info, and controls various properties like scaling and transparency. The .sub file contains the actual bitmaps.

@Mosthated: Try opening the .sub file in Wordpad
