Divx Encoded to DVD

Hi All,

Please bear with me i'm new to encoding as i only usually do straight backups of my movies.

I have a works presentation which is encoded using Divx split on to two cd's I was wondering is it possible to encode the divx files so that i can burn on to a DVD to play on a stand alone player?

I would also like to join the two encodings i have to make the presentation 1 fairly seamless video. I have looked at the users guides but if i'm honest not sure which one would be suitable! Any help will be much appreciated.

First ,copy the DivX files from BOTH the CDs into ur hard disc.Open the first in Virtualdub(MPEG2 or Mod).Under Video and Audio select Direct Stream Copy.Then under file click "Append AVI segment" and select ur second clip.Save as avi and now u have one seamless avi from two avi's.Lastly,convert this single avi to DVD using DVD Flick(asNightTran suggested).
BTW,ur original avi files must have same sample rate and resolution for them to be appended by VD.

Hi gave this ago yesterday with results better than i could have expected. I now have a single DVD containing a single presentation with a seemless spilt. Thanks for you help on this one much appreciated.

Probably nothing. I just am used to VirtualdubMPEG2.

One nice thing I found about AviDemux 2.4 is when you use it to append .avi files it doesn't complain about VBR audio. It just asks you if you want to build a time map, then if the .avi is packed bitstream it will ask if you want to unpack. Click Yes to both, then if you trimmed off any of the video it will also do a "smart copy" if needed to start the selection on the nearest key frame. It's very simple. Just set both Video and Audio to "Copy" in the drop downs. On my machine it appends 2 700 MB .avi files in less than 5 minutes(well add a couple of minutes to do the time maps and unpacking, but it's fast and simple... once you press Save then about 5 minutes and you're done.)



(edit: oh yeah, and I should add.. it runs great on both XP and Vista)

AVIMuxGUI is even faster for appending files.But,don't know why,avi files appended in AVIMuxGUI tend to create problems while playback in my standalone DVD player.

I like AviDemux if I'm going to process individual files or a batch job with
2 or 3 files. Any more than that and adding stuff to the job queue gets tedious.

Sometimes I can get a finicky .avi to play that has vbr audio just by
putting it through and converting the audio to cbr. Other times stuff
I swear is going to play fine won't even load on the player!!
