    Rendering in Sony Vegas 7.0?

Everytime I try to render the .veg file to a .avi, the rendering process will begin, and I'll leave my computer.

However, the rendering process will freeze at a random percentage. One time it was 23%, one time 64%, and this most recent time, 56%.

Am I doing something wrong? It's very frustrating to wait four hours for it to render only to find that it didn't complete the rendering D:

    Hello Furst.

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling your Vegas? Do yu have other background tasks running? Please let us know your computer specs and whether you are getting any error message of any kind.

This type of things can happen due to codec conflict. Do you remember installaing anything lately after which this problem started to surface?

Well, this is the first time I've tried rendering something, so I wouldn't know about installing stuff. D:

I have 1 gig of RAM, 120 GB hard drive, average video card (ATI Radeon something), and a crummy integrated audio card. None of those have ever given me problems with games like BF2 and WoW, though, so I don't -think- they're the problem.

I recently installed a few programs like AutoGK, Avic, and DVD Decrypter.

I may be missing a codec. I am not getting any error message. I tried again this morning before I left for school, and it said that it froze at 71%. However, the video was clearly not at 71%. It was only on frame 3,046 of 19,000 frames or so.

Usually I have background tasks running, but this time I closed out of everything except Vegas.

Could it be that it's having difficulty rendering the file because the .avi's that I used are scattered throughout my hard drive? I used probably... 20 .avi's to make a conglomeration of clips. Dunno if that can hurt the rendering process.

      Any ideas? :O

Just another note: I sat and watched periodically to see what the problem seems to be, and it renders the video once, but then proceeds to begin rendering it a second time.

        Is this normal?

In Vegas you should give input of MPEG2 or MPEG1 file depending on what you want at the end- DVD or VCD. Can you tell me what exactly the type of file that you are asking Vegas to render? You can use MediaInfo (Free tool, please search google for the Sourceforge download link). Download and install it. Now generate a detailed report of the file you want render. Post the report here.

Without knowing the exact nature of the master file it is hard for me help you further. Having AVIs in your HDD should not matter, unless while rendering Vegas runs out of space. In that case too, you should have been notified. One more thing, AVI files can have different codecs, and that is why we need to see the MediaInfo report.

In your rendering setting see if you can set how many "passes" Vegas should render the input file. If its two then make it 1 and see if that solves your problem. Though I have doubts that you can have so much control over Vegas' redering operation. Still worth checking....

All right. I download the thing and did a report.

The file I was trying to render was in .veg form, and I guess the program didn't recognize it. It only gave me that it was 70 point some-odd-kbs. One of the .avis in the .veg is:

            Complete name : C:\AA Halo 2 Videos\Collosus.avi
            Format : AVI
            Format/Info : Audio Video Interleave
            Format/Family : RIFF
            File size : 347 MiB
            PlayTime : 7mn 57s
            Bit rate : 6076 Kbps
            StreamSize : 1.06 MiB
            Codec : DivX 4
            Codec/Family : MPEG-4
            Codec/Info : Project Mayo DivX 4
            Codec settings/Packe : No
            Codec settings/BVOP : No
            Codec settings/QPel : No
            Codec settings/GMC : 0

            StreamSize : 338 MiB
            Writing library : avc2.0.11.1110

And here is another used in the same .veg file:

            Complete name : C:\AA Halo 2 Videos\firsttry.avi
            Format : AVI

            StreamSize : 133 MiB

            Hope this helps a bit!

Oops. I've also asked Vegas to try rendering the group of .avis as a .wmv and as a .avi file.

It seems that the .veg file saves "bookmarks" of clips that you cut out from other .avis. So the .veg file is made up of little segments from other .avis. D:

.veg is the extension for the VEGAS project that you are working. the media files are still in their original format, that info is stored in your .veg file.
Let me know what is the codec of your master media file/s. Then only I can suggest something, but it seems that you may be following a wrong method.

Ahh, all right. There are a lot of master media files, then. I'm making a montage'ish video, so the footage is taken from several different clips. (About 15 in all)

Two are already listed above, so I'll list a few more:

What appears is that your files are not homogeneous in nature, and that may the the most probable reason for creating trouble. I suggest that you render each one separately and take the output as MPEG2 (assuming that you ant to make a DVD). Now join all these MPEG2 in VirtualDub (Free tool) and then author you DVD using any standard authoring application like Muxman.
