Nero 5.5 with AVI files

there seems to be something wrong when I'm trying to burn a videocd with nero 5.5.......

okay, I drag the divx .AVI file the usual way, no problem. Then, when i hit the burn icon, it says "decoding video" but freezes. do i not have the correct .dll file to code the video, or what?

please help!!

You may want to repair or re-install NERO.
To isolate the problem, try other files, is this the only problematic file, or is this a gneral occurence?

However, most people use TMPGenc, and burn using NERO (there's plenty of posts, by Setarip, and others, on how to do this, use the search option).

u are trying to create a vcd from is divx.

the problem is the file may not be 352*288 (4 pal) therefore i will reject the file. normally it tells u this in an error meassage, but yours crashes.

so it would need to be resixed to 352*288.

if it is 325*288 then i'm not sure what the poblem is

alternatively u could frameserve through virtualdub, then use tmpg to change the framerate id nessecery. then try 2 burn it

TMPGenc automatically resizes and adjusts divx 3.xx and divx 4.xx files to vcd properties.

also is the max bitrate 1150 for VCD'd as i tried the panasonic mpeh1 encoder and this is the max, and the same for the vcd profile in tmpgenc.

You have the choice to maintain the aspect ratio or modify it, you can have fullscreen, 16:9, and 4:3 and the ability to de-interlace

The properties are the same, your file will be converted to the appropriate framerate, and 1150 kbps. vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc, has it all explained.

You're welcome Wish I could get vcd's, I can't play divx on my system, and conversion would take 164 hrs (if I left my PC alone, and did nothing

i know wot u mean, i just got a new pc, this xmas. b4 i had a p166 10GB 64ram . U cannot do ${-}1t with that, trust.

my opinion is to get an AMDXP2000 (the fastest one possible, what your budget allows) as you never upgrade the processor again, as u will need 2 change the motherboard etc... u might as well get a new one

i recommend u get a larger HD so u can store multiple rips and do them when u get the time, like i do.

also get enough ram as its goin cheap

I'm looking at both Athlon and Intel, whichever is cheaper, i'll go for it I guess. Yeah the more ram the better, I hope at least for a gig, but maybe 512 will be okay?

Here's what I'm aiming for, right now its priced at $1900+taxes, but the price should drop to $999 or $1200 (and I'm waiting for that):

is good considering i got it at xmas 2001 4 about £1500 ($1750)

i spent quite a lot cos b4 i had a p166 that woz useless. now i wont be getting an upgrade 4 a long time (4 yrs)

Yeah AMD's are fast, especially after those PC WORLD.COM tests, even though their bus is much smaller. The new P2.26 is a little faster by a "hair" according to the magazine.

You have a "64mb ddr gforce ti200"---does that include tv out function, if so then you wouldn't have to go through the trouble of making vcd's etc...

The good thing now is that I'll be able to get a:

"MSI GEFORCE 3 TI200 18MB DDR VIVO VC"---128 mb card, I'm hoping will give me good tv-out. According to posts at the doom9.org forum, tv-out is really good, and the quality is superb. I have a 27" brand new tv, that is being wasted right now, I haven't turned it on in months.
