audio and video out of sync.

when I convert avi's to mpegs using Tmpgenc the audio is ok at the beginning of the film but by the middle it seems to be getting out of sync.

It ends up with the sound being about 3 or 4 seconds in front of the picture.

If I extract the audio to wav beforehand using Virtualdub or if I use the avi as the audio source makes no difference, the sound is still falling out of time.

    Any ideas?

Open the original AVI in VDUB and view if the frame rate of the video and audio are in sync.
Could also be you're doing a frame rate conversion on the video and not on the audio...
I'd advise you to do the both (video/audio) seperately... and then mux the two together...
