i cant seem to get the ASUS ASV2 Codec to capture at 25 frames per second eg. PAL 720x576 44khz 16bit, in ASUS Digital VCR. it captures with no frames lost to avi, i have the codec set to best quality, but the resulting files always have incorect audio sync eg. when you play it back the video ends before the audio, i think. its almost like the video is running at 29.97 fps and the audio is running at 25 fps, or maybe the other way round. anyway i need to alter the ASV2 Codec to capture at 25 fps not 29.97 and there seems no way to alter it.

I've found that the Asus Codec is terribly buggy, even tho it seems like a decent codec. Sometimes it won't take the settings you give it, or just chooses the one it wants to use when it wants to use them. So i'd say, unfortunately, don't even bother with it.
Use the picVideo MJPEG Codec instead, works great.
