Problem with Audio on AVI file

    Trying to convert to VCD

    File Info =

    Video = Div X Mpeg 4 - Low motion
    Audio =
    Sample Rate 48,000
    Channels 5
    Sample precision 0
    Compression Unknown tag 2000

Audio is not recognised in Vdub or TEMPGenc so the file can not be played.
However, the avi file plays OK in Windows Media Player.

If I try to create a wav file of the audio stream in Vdub the file produced sounds bad.

    Have tried NanDub, VirtualDub ac3.

At a loss as what to do now.....

    your soundstream is AC3

you will have to extract this audio with nandub and convert to wave!

open file in nandub => save wave will save the original audiostream (ac3 in your case - not wave of course).

make sure to name it accordingly - i.e. *.ac3

now convert this ac3 to wave with azid/lame/besweet

feeding the wave into tmpeg will be fine then

      Many Thanks for your help.

I have spent the last few hours going through the different forums and this seems to be a very common issue with alot of the new films being posted - Harry Potter, AI, Ali to name a few.

I tried outputting the file as a wav in NanDub or VD_ac3
      And renamed it to .ac

I found Besweet not to easy to use and the same with HeadAC3he
so ended up using ac3tool which converted the .ac file into an acceptable wav. Although the sound had to be gained up a lot in the conversion.

However, I also found Goldwave was another solution which can take the orginal .avi file straight to an acceptable wav for input to TMPGEnc. This route also had a little flaw in that the sound became a little out of sync with the video.

Thanks again for your help - first time I've ever posted on a forum and I am impressed in how how quick and helpful the repsonse was.

      Regards

                  simply use: azid lame besweet

no nothing except for the blanks!
