how do I convert a divx avi file to mpg

I have just downloaded a film and it says it is a avi file, but with divx quality.

My problem is I can't play it back, I only get the sound, and when I try and enter it in tmpgenc, it says the file isn't supported.

How do I convert it to mpg so that I can make a vcd out of it.

Download the latest version of TMPGEnc and have the latest DivX codec installed.

This process has been discussed in great detail in a mutitude of posts. Utilize the "search" button to view such posts. vcdhelp.com is also an excellent site.

if u can't open the avi in tmpgenc:

open TMPGENC

cancel the wizard

goto options > environments settings > VFAPI plugin

right click on avi vfw and increase prioprity to a higher level
do the same with the avi opendml

Then load the VCD template and the avi and encode
