I like DVD2SVCD too, but the question was about DivX encoding. For DivX encoding Gordian Knot is the easiest way to get a great quality rip. I don't know why people say Flask is easier. After using GKnot once I found it to be very straight forward and easier to use. Especially since Flask only works like half the time.

You can get lots of headaches with Gordian Knot if you don't know many terms. GKnot's complexity lies in the knowledge that is needed to make good rips, not in how difficult it is to use. I did many rips before knowing that it was better to rip at smaller resolutions than at higher bitrate, apart from cropping before resizing, encoding credits separately, or IVTC !!
