hi an..ok is there a set standard for fullscreen?, or is it all trial n error till you get to full screen dimensions. ive never done this before..?..tyvm in advance

basic math skills really, find out what the horizontal res needs to be for the ratio to be 4:3, then crop both sides equally

wait a sec here an..you say effort..ive been doing this sorta thing for 5 years now..im just not a new kid on the block..im sure you didnt figure it out all by yourself..those numbers dont mean **** to me...btw...you said thered be settings for 4:3, not something that i would need to go into blind trying to do trial and error. i really do take offence to that statement...you call yourself a specialist..a specialist at what criticizing a person, when they dont have the knowledge you do!!!!!!!

i'm sorry you took offence to that statement, that was not my intention. my point was that if you had experimented/tried a little you would've found the answer for yoursef, calculating a 4:3 res needs no prior experience in digital video. btw when have i referred to myself as a specialist? it's just a hobby/interest of mine, and there's much to be learnt.

back to the problem, i'm still not giving you the answer, but here's a huge hint: multiply 483 by 4, divide that by 3. subtract that from 720, then divide by two. that is how much you have to crop off left & right sides.

hi an..my bad..the file is 640x272 (2.35:1) [=40:17] from gspot, not the previously stated number. i did the math as provided by you...however the number thast i get results for to subtract from is bigger..than the 640...is that formula the same for all..?tyvm in advance. btw i appreciate your comments.

wow an thanks bunches, that really worked....well worth the effort!!!...one down side, the audio off...you know of any better program than vdub to fix the audio synch?..or have any tricks up your sleeve?...can u pull a rabbit out for saturdaty nite...?..tyvm in advance.
