Hi and welcome to the forum, cakarott!

If you want a ripping program that can read directly from all your protected DVDs - then Magic DVD Ripper (not freeware) can be used to create the AVI files in one process.

        welcome to the forum

which one of the tool and codec i should select to obtain best picture quality ripping.
for higher quality at a lower file size, x264, but certainly not in avi; use mp4 or mkv. if after slightly faster encoding/decoding go with xvid. the best tool for the job IMHO is MeGUI

Dimesion(Size of video Height and Width) and Video Bitrate (i think it quality) what kinda input i should go
avoid resizing if possible and go for an anamorphic encode, just crop and set DAR

Well, my question is what do you intend to watch these converted DVDs on?
          PSP?
          iPod?
          cellphones?

It really depends on what you plan on doing with the finished conversions. mp4 will give you your best quality, but some devices won;t play the mp4 format. I can convert a full DVD to a 120-170mb .vai file and watch the entire movie on a Treo cell phone and many other palm portables. The picture quality is excellent for that platform.
My PSP requires the mp4 format and file size is the main factor in getting a good quality picture with good video/audio sync.

So, before we go on any further, let us know how you intend to use the files and we'll try and give you advice that would best suit your needs.

none at all, Im just backing up my collection to my hard drive with obtaining best quality. i been told to use x264 and xvid codecs to gain it so past week i tryed tons of ripper found out

            for x264 > MeGUI,
for xvid > AutoGK and DVDPean Pro

but im still open for recommendations..

any how i got few questions i will be appreciate if u guys can answer em,

1st question, as u know u use gspot for get information about avi/mpeg files.
Which tool i need to use to get information about MP4 files

2nd question, this is regarding subtitle. Well i convert sub to srt it worked fine but problem is the position it showing (atm showing on the movie which is letterboxed) but i want the subtitle showing bottom of the letterbox in the black area

for xvid > AutoGK and DVDPean Pro
MeGUI does xvid as well, though AutoGK is fine too.

Which tool i need to use to get information about MP4 files
easiest is probably mediainfo or YAMB. for further detailed info you can open files (well x264 encodes anyway, don't think other encoders store such info in the bitstream) in a hex editor

2nd question, this is regarding subtitle. Well i convert sub to srt it worked fine but problem is the position it showing (atm showing on the movie which is letterboxed) but i want the subtitle showing bottom of the letterbox in the black area
use media player classic; set position in options-->subtitles-->default style. otherwise vsfilter

download xvid_encraw.exe, place in the MeGUI folder
