    Ateme H.264 codec

I've seen some articles on the internet raving about how good the Ateme H264 codec is. Unfortunately, I can't find how to obtain it, not even on Ateme's website.

Is it as good as I've been reading? And does anyone know where I can get it?

According to http://www.ateme.com/press_releases_...ail.php5?id=66 it's available on a line of Kyrion real time encoders... so maybe it's only available here:

and all their products look like they are hardware based.

        H.264

You can go ahead and check this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264
A lot of good information can be found there and you can find answers to many of your questions.
ALso for technical details check: http://ip.hhi.de/imagecom_G1/assets/...rview_0305.pdf

H.264 has been released in beta versions by several providers and it seems 15-20% better in terms of video quality. This will be the future in the broadcasting industry and it offers:
        • Better image quality at the same compressed bitrate, or
        • A lower compressed bitrate for the same image quality

One of the providers that launched successfully this application is blinkotv.com and they have shared feedback with the audience regarding the development project.

thank you and hope i helped with this information
