In order to determine what codecs are used, open file in Virtualdub and go to File -> File Information. Post what you see here.

like in almost any other case that has been posted before, you deal with the AC3 codec.

...which requires that you install the AC3 codec into your system. A codec pack such as Tsunami or Nimo will have it. Alternatively, you can install a DVD player software, such as PowerDVD or WinDVD.

I also have the same problem but what name (codec or filter) should i look for when installing tsunami, because i just installed tsunami 3.9.3 and now there is no sound at all, even the divx's that had sound before don't have sound anymore.

            Thanks, Robert

p.s does ac3 audio take up more space than mp3 audio.

AC3 audio codec is what you should look for.

And yes, AC3 files take up a whole lot more of space than MP3 (even the high-bitrate ones). They are smaller though than uncompressed WAV.

                install 396

393 is a bit out of date

Where can i find the 396 because i checked the software page and that still had 393 as the latest.

Also, i downloaded the audiofilters.zip file from doom9 and after installing that i now have sound, so that is also an option i guess.

                  Thanks, Robert

You can find it on UncasMS's page.

Uncas, why don't you make the thread regarding Tsunami 3.9.6 a sticky? Since you've been recommending it on a regular basic (as I do as well), it would serve us all well to make the file easily accessible.
