DV files in virtual dub

I would like to load DV coded files into virtual dub for compression into Divx format. Once the video is loaded I can take it from there but virtual dub gives me an error stating that 'cant locate decompressor for format dvsd' How can I get these files to load into virtual dub?

Ok so I download a Video for Windows DV codec. Which is the best one and where can I get a free one?

Unable to create VirtualDub files with my Digital Cam

In VirtualDub 1.4.13-P4, when starting capture mode, I get the message, "Cannot find a driver to draw this non-RGB format." After clicking OK, I get the message, "Error 418: Unsupported video format."

I'm connecting a Sony TRV140 Digital Camcorder (using firewire) to a Dell P4 Laptop. I know the hardware interface works because Ulead's Video Studio works fine--it just creates files that are way too large.

Any ideas?
