    decompress/compress audio

my xvid video wouldn't open with divx, so i tried it in virtualdub. a message came up saying that something was wrong with encoding, that i needed to decompress the entire audio stream to an uncompressed wav file, then recompress it with a constant bitrate encoder (bitrate: 133.6 +/- 36.8 kbps). how do i do this?

To extract the audio as a WAV file, do the following:
      1. Open file in Virtual/nandub
      2. Set Audio tab to Full Processing Mode
      3. Under Audio, go to Compression and select "No Compression [PCM]"
      4. Go to File -> Save WAV... and give a name to the new audio file

Note: This does not work on AVI files that contain AC3 audio stream.

Just curious, what exactly is the error message that VD gave you?
