    Which codec is DX50?

When i try to play an AVI file called "The Office" the sound and the picture are well out of synch, like 10 minutes on an half an hour program. When i used Gspot to see which codecs i was having problems with it said i needed DivX 5.0, 4CC: DX50

I thought that was DivX 5! I have DivX 5 installed.

When i look at a DivX 5 AVI Gspot says it is codec DX50/divx

So what is DX50 on its own. Which video codec should i install

    Thanks

    dx50 is divx5

there are, however, different version of divx5 and thus different four-cc codes like dx50 or divx/dx50

i wouldnt believe that async playback could be a result of any divx5 codec.

your system/player/settings could be one thing to look into.

and then of course one question remains: is the file playing fine on other machines?

      Converter

I ran into the same problem tonight with a movie. It plays fine with Windows Media Player, but i want to convert it. VirtualDub will not do it. Can you help me with what I need to convert it? When i try to use VirtualDub, this is what i get:

"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'DX50' (unknown)
VirtualDub requires a Video For Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."

I have Divx 5.0.2 Bundle, but that must not be enough. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have discovered that the avi file will play perfectly in Virtual Dub yet not on any media player.

        ????

Where do I find that program? I am looking for it online, but cannot seem to locate it. Also, are there any other programs that will convert the DX50 to an .avi that will work with TMPGENC or even convert the DX50 to a VCD? Thank you!

Like tygercss i can't find a working link to the filter pack. But i have found it on Kazaa. Search under filter pack not Tsunami or you will get loads of other rubbish.

Don't know if it fixes the DX50 problem yet.

tsunami 397 can be found on my page - click the upper anigif in my signature!

installing tsunami should be done this way:

via CUSTOM and keep all the default settings!

                  reboot - thats it.
