    Playback problems

I have problem with playing divx clip with some players.
For example, BSPlayer, Virtual Dub and The Playa plays it without problems, but Windows Media Player 7, PowerDivX (3.12) and Micro DVD Player (1.2) don't.

Media Player and microdvd show an error message "Instruction xxxyyyzzz referenced memory at address 00000." etc when opening the avi file. PowerDivX doesnt say anything but doesnt play the movie either.

I have made the avi myself using DivX 4.12 and Radium MP3 codec 1.263. The codecs are installed on my computer.

What is the problem? I like BSPlayer and would use it but I'd like to make DVD-style menus using Micro DVD.

    Thanks!

      Hi

      Problem solved!

I tried to play a dvd with PowerDVD trial version I downloaded, and it crashed with the same error.
So I figured it is not a divx problem but something "deeper" in Windows (surprise! )

I installed latest Detonator XP drivers for my TNT1 card and got most of the players working, except MicroDVD that still crashed in "lgvid.ax" module.
I found the file in FU3 directory (a flight simulator) and with some google-ing found that it is a badly behaving DirectShow filter (whatever that is?) and has caused problems for other people too. After unregistering the file everything works well!
