how can i make a movie play mono?

i try to copy a movie to a vhs, and i need to make it mono.
is there a way to transfer the divx stereo movie to mono, or better to play it as mono?

You can use VirtualDub to change sound properties in your divx :
1/ Open your divx movie : File / Open video file
2/ Extract audio from your movie : File / Save wav

Then, you can reinsert your wav file, applying some changes :
3/ Video / Direct stream copy
4/ Audio / Full processing mode
5/ Audio / Wav audio / your file
6/ Audio / Conversion / mono (for others options, don't use "No change" but specify your value)
7/ File / Save as AVI...

And that's it !
