how to open partially d/l avi file with divfix?

I have a partially downloaded avi file (99% of it) and i would like to playback it.

I have Divfix, but I don't know how to open this avi file with it. I downloaded the file with iMesh and because the file is not completed, it is not in My Downloads where other downloaded files go. So I don't know where iMesh puts partially downloaded files so I can open and rebuild them with Divfix.

I have this avi file in iMesh Download, but I can't find it anywhere else on the computer so I could open it with Divfix.

What am I to do? Please help me!

I don't use Imesh, but i found a solution on the Imesh.com FAQ page.

Q: I found some really good files, added them to Downloads but didn't download them completely. Now I have to format my disk/delete iMesh directory. Can I restore these files later?

A: Yes, Backup all ".dat" files from your download directory and restore them after you re-install iMesh.
Not really the question you were looking for, but the answer is more than enough. Imesh is like kazaa when coming to partially downloaded files and saves them as .dat files. Now, the name of the dat file is completely different from the actual file name, so to find out which .dat file is the movie that you're trying to view, i would suggest you complete/cancel everything else you have downloading and then you'll be left with your only dat file which is indeed the movie. Then, rename it to "your movie".avi and open it up in DivFix. Then select "rebuild index" and you can preview your movie now. Oh, and by the way, when a movie is at 99%, dont you figure you should just let it complete

      Thank you!!!

Wow, you are amazing! All this time I had this file in front of my nose in C:/My Downloads only under a different name. But not in a million years I would figure it out. Thanks!

P.S. This 99% completed file will not resume, so I can't complete it not that I don't want to. It is a quite often problem in Imesh that for no reason in the middle of downloading it stops and it won't continue. So if you hadn't saved me, I would have to download this movie from the beginning.

Hope to hear from you again, bye!

          Applause! Applause!
Just wanted to say how great it is to see a thread where the original poster asks a good question and gets a thorough answer and then the original poster posts pack and tells us that the answer worked and the problem was solved! Very refreshing! (Even if this post has nothing to do with DivX Playback!)

BTW- ziva- did you get DivFix to play the movie for you?

          gd_nimrod- I love your style!

          be humble....be wise!
