I have the same video card and had the same problem........

I have 3ivx, bs player and a thing called divx anti freeze.
I do not know what is causing the problem but I have had it happen. All I have is those three things installed. Not divx or xvid codecx installed at all and I do not have any probs now.

Try those three together it may help.

Try using FFDShow for decoding XviD contents . . .

I did, but it seems to be that different movies need fifferent codecs, and all the time i´m changing the codecs.
now all seems to be perfect, I hope it lasts.
            thanks
