I want to play a xvid movie, but when I open it in bsplayer, i get no sound. Windows media player doesn't play de movie at all. And Video Lan player does play de movie correctly. But I would like to see te movie in bsplayer because of the subtitles.
So I checked the file with gspot and with nandub. The information from gspot is shown in this screenshot:

And the information from nandub is shown here:

    Can anybody help me?

    tnx, twanno

    virtualdubmod

I've opened the video in virtualdubmod, and it gives the following message:

Does this mean, that this is the problem? And what are the experiences with rewriting headers? Does the audiostream often get skewed in a terrible way?

      install an mp3 codec

(the vdMOD message is normal when it comes to non-cbr streams - you would normally NOT rewrite the header)

        same problem still

I've installed extra mp3 codecs now, and I get the same messages with gspot and VirtualDubMod. In nandub now the audio compression is recognized as fraunhofer IIs mpeg codec. But playing the file still gives the same problems.

          did you try this already:

          - open avi in vdMOD
          - DONT let vdmod rewrite the header
          - set video to DIRECT stream
          - save to new filename
