virtualdubmod help with merging avi files

i have two video clips (each about 1 1/2 hrs) , both avi files, encoded with the same version of divx, same bitrate, same pixel size. but when i load one up in virtualdubmod and try to append the other, it tells me the sampling rates are different by 0.0003 (23.97604 vs. 23.97599).

so, i go into Video>Frame Rate, and convert them both to 23.0 fps, and save them as a direct stream copy.

when i reload one of them and try to append the other again, it now tells me they're "different formats". is there any way i can merge these two videos without completely re-encoding them? (re-encoding a 3 hr video on my system would take about 5 or 6 hrs AT LEAST).

please, i could really use some help here.

    Try AVIJoin:

Easy-to-use tool to join multiple AVI files into one larger AVI video file.
