can't get playback of files on tv

I have my laptop hooked up to my tv. I have full video and audio. When I try to use any of my players, windows media, dvix, etc. I am able to see the player skin, I am able to hear the movie but I can not see the movie on the tv. These are movies that I have downloaded and am trying to view from the hard drive. The movie does show up on the laptop but not on the tv screen but everything else computer related does show up on the tv screen
    Any ideas?

    change your settings

I assume you are using XP. You cannot see the video on the tv because the video is actually not in the media player. It is a seperate layer that is sitting on top of the media player. To see the video on the TV, you need to set your computer(or laptop) for two displays(second monitor) and then drag the entire media player window to the second monitor(TV).

Try setting it to VRM-7 Renderless in the players preferences.

use vmr or set the tv as the primary display through graphics card's drivers
