    most efficient free codec

    whats the most efficient (in high motion) video codec avilable today (4 free)?????

    what's your definition of efficient? speed? compression? quality?

    either way, IMO its xvid

          Efficent in terms of a video codec to me means, best quality per bitrate and x264 should beat XviD in most scenarios. XviD is MPEG-4 part 2, x264 is MPEG-4 part 10 so it isn't really XviD's fault. Although I hear that there is an XviD AVC encoder coming out.

          For other free codecs you have:
          VP7
          RV9EHQ
          VC-1
          plus more.
