download & install yamb, a gui for mp4box.

use the 'extract' function to demux the aac audio

Might also want to check out AVIMuxGUI. Extracting doesn't involve decoding though. Sounds like you are trying to decode to wav. For that you could try mplayer:
mplayer.exe -ao pcm:file=out.wav -vc dummy -vo null input.avi

it extracted to a raw file because you picked the option to do so. do it again, this time select "extract audio from avi files", or better yet "extract ID to new mp4 file"

the text/track ID number refers to either the video, an audio or a subtitle stream. see the file info YAMB gives you to see which ID the audio is (probably #2)

Don't think yamb can extract aac from an avi properly. Plus if you want to decode it, then demuxing just adds an extra step, lastly it complicates things if the aac is he aac since some decoders might decode the raw aac stream wrong (miss the SBR part).

But like I said, for extracting I would recommend AVIMuxGUI, which is what would have been used for muxing.

With the mplayer example, you would begin by replacing the input/output, that is about it. mplayer can decode just about anything to wav.

By the way to do the same as yamb/mp4box with mplayer you can use the -dumpaudio option.

0x00FF == aac. No idea where this ACC stuff comes from.

Hi to all, I'm new to this dvd stuff, and would like to know if this thread is about extracting the audio from a dvd, eg: from a concert to put on a cd.

If not, can anyone point me in the right direction.

                            thanks

                              No.

There are numerous DVD audio extractors out there or you can use say DVD Decrypter to extract the audio using stream processing, then BeSweet to downmix and convert to wav, which you can then burn as an audio CD.
