playing back divx

I used to play divx files that were encoded with divx 4.0 using Windows Media Player 7.1. However, lately my computer has been acting up and will not play any divx files. When I play it, it looks like a scrambled blur of colors. Can someone please help?

Have you installed anything, like a codec or the sort, that could have messed around with your system settings? You might want to try reinstalling your video driver (A good time if you haven't updated it for a long time) and DirectX.
