Most stable version of Divx Codec under XP?

when on 2k, i was perfectly happy with the combination of Divx Codec 3.1 alpha release & Microsoft MPEG-4 V1/2/3 VKI Codec.

now i am on WinXP Pro now...any1 could recommend a stable version of Divx Codec that runs flawlessly under XP? i dont want to install tons of codecs and end up with not knowing what problem is when i have 1. i want to conservative about installing codecs. old version is fine with me, even with the 1 i used b4, Codec 3.1 alpha release. is this still any good?

    thanks for advising.

I've done a few conversions using 3.11a in XP before and I had no problems. In fact, the whole experience is just as rock-stable as it is under Win2K. LAME has always been my MP3 encoder of choice.

Why don't you try using just the few well-known codecs (3.11a, 4.x and Radium/LAME) and see if any problems occur? That's a better way than waiting for an answer.
