    DivX 3.11a on Windows XP?

Hi and greetings to everybody. I am very happy to start to participate on this forum.

I am mainly a DivX player person, basically movies downloaded from the newsgroups. I have WIndows XP. I have read that the best codec still for playing downloaded movies from the net is the DivX 3.11 aplha. When I am installing it, it ask me to sobrescribe the file l3codeca.acm located in Windows\system32 folder. The file that comes with XP is newer that the file on the DivX codec. I have made a backup of the newer file and let the DivX installer to sobrescribe it with the old one. But I am concerned that this will bring me problems later. What do you think from your experience with Windows XP on this?

About players: I am going to try the Media Player 6.4 that comes with XP. I have tried BSPlayer before and it apears to work fine for me, but there was an issue when I installed the DivX 5 codec, all my content was been played by this codec, and I could not find a way that Bsplayer used the DivX 3.11 codec again, the only solution was uninstalling the DivX 5 codec. Any good recommendation on a player is also very welcome. I have to say that I have Power DVD 4 XP, but I am not sure how good can this player behave with DivX movies, and how good is for subtitles management, a thing that BSPlayer did very well.

I have an Athlon 1800+ and 512 RAM with a Geforce 3 TI200. XP pro is my OS.

Any comments will be very apreciated.

    Thanks a lot.
