Divx doesn't play smooth

Hi guys,
I always wondered why some of my friends' divx are not so smooth when
playing, periodically you see the movie freeze for a very tiny (but
disturbing) fraction of second. The image quality is outstanding, by the
way. The divx version used is divx 5.0, changing divx player doesn't matter
at all. Actually, this problem has presented even with the older divx 4 and
3. Watch out thou, just some of those do that, and the settings and etcetera are pretty much the same. Do we ignore something you guys know??? We have NO idea on how to figure it out... HELP

A few things spring to mind:
1. Are you playing the file from the CD drive? If so, try playing it from the harddrive. Also make sure that DMA is enabled.
2. What is your CPU speed? And what is the resolution of the 'stuttering' movies you have played? Too high a resolution and too low the processing power will result in similar problems, though yours is 'mild.'
3. Have you got DirectX 8.1 and updated VGA card driver installed?
