    sound problem "tag 2000"

    I have a sound problem with several divx-movies !!

    The picture is fine, but NO sound.

    I have set WMP to automatically search for missing codecs, but with no succes.

    Then I ran VirtualDub, choosing file information, but the audio stream seems to be unknown with the message "tag 2000"

    To see a screenshot of file information from VirtualDub:

    Somebody please help me !

    Regards

    Tag 2000 is indicative of an AC3 audiostream. If you have a software DVD player installed (WinDVD, etc.), it will play your .AVI with audio. If you don't, you'll have to download (and register to Windows) the .AC3 filter, iviaudio.ax, which is available at many sites, either individually or as part of a codec "pack".

    Let us know of your success ;>}

      Thx

      I tried downloading and regristering the codec, but still no sound.

      Then I search for similar types of files ".ax" and found them in the windows/system folder, and i tries simply just copy paste......And bingo sound was on.

      Well thank u many times

          Re: Thx

          Where did you copy & paste to? Which folder? I have the same problem - tag 2000, no audio and copying the iviaudio.ax to winnt/system32 folder & registering it did not work. Appreciate any help..PLEASE.

          thanks

            sv: re: thx

            I copied mpgaudio.ax, Mpg2splt.ax and iviaudio.ax into the windows/system folder, not system32.
            All this after I had regristred.

            Hope that it helps.

              register with windows

              Maybe a stupid question but how do you register these files with windows??? Another question: "...If you have a software DVD player installed (WinDVD, etc.), it will play your .AVI with audio..."
              I have Intervideo WinDVD installed but I have still no Audio, what else can I try???

                you register those files with either:

                +++
                c:\windows\system\regsvr32 /s iviaudio.ax
                c:\windows\system\regsvr32 /s mpgaudio.ax
                +++

                or

                +++
                regsvr32 /s iviaudio.ax
                regsvr32 /s mpgaudio.ax
                +++

                depending on your os

                    the above was only an example.

                    of course you will need the corresponding file name!

                    if you're looking for AC3 codecs try these from my page:

                    unpack and run the cmd file
