I schedule tv shows and movies to record on my DirecTv receiver DVR r-15 (DirecTv's proprietary tivo-like hard drive recorder). Later, I play the recorded programs and record them on my JVC dvd recorder using DVD-RW media. The duration of the shows are from 30 minutes to two hours, so I set the dvd recorder to the 2 hour setting in order to make maximum use of DVD-RW disc space for quality video and audio.

I then rip all the files using DVD Decrypter into a specific folder located in My Documents. As time permits, I open my MPEG2-VCR program, import each file, edit out the commercials and save them into the original folder. Later, I double click the Start Smart icon, choose Nero Vision Express. Problem #1:

    Up pops this alert:
    Nero Vision:
    Hardware acceleration is deactivated. Some
capture devices may not work properly.
You can activate hardware acceleration using
    the Directx Diagnostic Tool,

When this first occured I used this Directx Diagnostic tool and found my Hardware Acceleration was indeed activated!

I continued the process. In Nero Vision Express3 I choose "Make Movie". I now have my "Untitled Project" and click on the button "browse for media" and add the edited video files to my project. The preview window allows me to play the file so I do that. Problem #2: the audio volume has diminished by close to 25%!! This is problematic when I play the finished DVD video on my standalone DVD player; I have turn up the volume much higher; when I return to TV viewing, I am "blasted" with high volume!

DirecTv movies which have no commercials, I use DVD Shrink, which uses Nero as its default burner. The results are the same using this method!

I have been doing this for over a year now without any of these problems, except for the "Hardware Acceleration" issue which up to a month ago did not affect the audio of my final burn. I believe Nero is one of the "finest" multiple function programs I have ever used. Having said this however, getting some support is extremely difficult.
I hope I didn't include too much information. Please! I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.

    Cheers and Thanks!
