How to burn home movies from my DXG camcorder to DVD?

I have some footage of my hometown that I would like to send to my friends in Maine. What is the easiest method to do this? (I also need to edit it a bit.) Thanks so much to anyone that can help me. I have Vista, NVIDIA GeForce graphics card.

direct to mpeg4 is what I found, but what is it saving to(flash card?)

506V model. I have a small (1GB) memory card in it right now. The only way I can ever view the video is via HP PhotoSmart Essential Printer.

do you have a card reader, they make several cheap adapters for usb

This product provides 3 different video formats. AVI is the least compressed.
1. AVI : Install Xvid 1.03 codec (included in the product CD)
2. MOV : Install Quick Time 6X or above
3. ASF : Windows Media Player 9.0 or above is recommended

I've tried doing it by the manual but it's not Vista compatible. I just get a message that says "not compatible with this OS" I already have the videos ON the computer. I just need to know what to use to burn and edit them?

have you tried dvd flick? should convert them to mpeg2/dvd files

No, haven't heard of DVD Flick. I just found under file format on the camcorder that MOV is checked. (AVI and ASF were the other choices) Will I be able to pull these clips out of QuickTime, edit and burn them with DVD Flick?

Supported file container formats are, amongst others, AVI, MPG, MOV, WMV, ASF, FLV, Matroska and MP4.

there are editing programs out there but unfortunately they aren't free, or user friendly or they do things we can't talk about

ur best bet might be to load a vista codec for quicktime .mov's

I miss "the ones we can't talk about". I've got Media Player opening them but some are scratchy sounding w/ no video. I'm about to give up. I tried the DVD Flick and noticed in the tutorial it said to use CAMDVDFlick. I tried it and got a COM Surrogate error and it shut down. I'm getting frustrated and about ready to just give up!!

I DID IT!! I DID IT!! I didn't use the CAMDVDFlick, just the regular one and it worked great!! Now I need to learn how to edit. (Note to self, NEVER give teenagers a camcorder!!!) THANKS, Chewy!!
