I would want to know the method in which a video transcoder is validated. the TESTING METHODOLOGY. How can I say that the quality of the transcoded output is good/bad compared to what??

I have actually seen some Threads that discuss this ... with Shots compared ... not strictly Transcoders but also the Encoders ... do a Google for Transcoders Quality or Comparison ...
My persoanl testing method is open up the Original and Transcoded file (if compression is less than 75%) with a viewer ... I use VLC ... side-by-side ... and if it looks close enough or good enough to "my eyes" ... then is a go ... Not very Technical ... but it works for me.
